there are some happenings in the band as of late. we've been rehearsing with steve wallis (of buddharabbit) on bass, and i've been messing around with some names for the project.
john mondick - (electric and acoustic guitars, guitar synth, reverend, vocals)
john and i have played together on and off since the early 90s, and he has recently been playing acoustic shows with me around the area. john went to school for classical guitar (he's really good at that stuff too... it's cool), and is now studying for this doctorate in pharmacokinetics so he can make lots of money one day. john grew up in johnstown. i though that was either a coincidence or his parents just weren't very imaginative. i later found out that his dad is kind of an eccentric genius with electronics equipment, so i don't think the lack of imagination is the case. maybe they thought it was funny. i think it is, in any case.
mike silliman - (drums)
mike has his masters degree in performance (percussion) from IUP, where we met in the mid-90s. mike and i have written some tunes together over the internet, which they have decided is the next big thing. internet bands. hmmm. right. anyway, he has done session work in new york and has played in bands in pittsburgh such as the screamin' jimmies. they kinda screwed him over, so he moved back to new york and is now living with cathy and working for samson... the microphone company. he's also playing in a couple bands in new york city, so we don't really own him yet. mike has a soft spot for hummus.
steve wallis - (bass guitar, vocals)
steve has a long history of bands that he recently ran down for me. i have some cds of his that i should return soon, actually. for the last couple years he's been playing with his band buddharabbit around philly. he plays guitar in that band and sings lead vocals, but he is a no bullshit bass player. he learns songs faster than anyone i know, minus maybe ron from the churchills or john. he went to school for jazz/classical guitar and manages the music store where i teach lessons. |
